Verification Process and Rights Protection Mechanism

All applicants are subject to Registry Enhanced Whois verification Policy. Furthermore during General Availability, Applicants then proceed to the rights protection phase of verification.

Applicants with a demonstrable pre-existing right to the domain name may apply, within 5 business days of application, for Fast-Track processing of their application. Provided they can demonstrate evidence of rights in a way that conforms to Registry’s requirements, it will be registered to them.

Applicants who do not wish to submit evidence of rights, or who do not have a pre-existing right to use the name, may still apply for the name and will be processed via the Standard route. This means that the applied-for domain could be subject to a Competing Application from another applicant who can demonstrate acceptable evidence of right.

In Standard processing, the applied-for domain will be published on the Registry-owned website http://domains.watch for up to 30 days.

If there is more than one application, along with evidence of rights that meets the requirements, there can be two results:

1st. If the original applicant can provide acceptable evidence of the rights over the name, the name shall be allocated on a first-come first -served basis.

2nd. If the original applicant is unable to provide acceptable evidence of the rights over the name, the domain name will be registered by the second applicant if they have rights over domain name.
